Jesus does not treat us as slaves, but as free men, as friends, as brothers and sisters; and he not only sends us, he accompanies us, he is always beside us in our mission of love. Where does Jesus send us? There are no borders, no limits: he sends us to everyone. The Gospel is for everyone, not just for some. It is not only for those who seem closer to us, more receptive, more welcoming. It is for everyone. Do not be afraid to go and to bring Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society, even to those who seem farthest away, most indifferent. The Lord seeks all, he wants everyone to feel the warmth of his mercy and his love. (Pope Francis)

In Francis, we have a missionary Pope, perhaps like few in history. He has done nothing but evangelize from the moment he stepped out onto that balcony at St Peters. His words and his actions have set the tone. There is no doubt in this deacon's mind that he is leading us all to embrace the missionary moment in which we live. He is calling us to live our lives in the heart of the Church for the sake of the world. He is sending us out in response to the command of Jesus to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.

Why We Need the Eucharistic Jesus to Worship God
By Andrew M. Greenwell, Esq. | July 29, 2013

Jesus, the Son of God become man, was able, through his human nature joined to the person of the Word of God, to offer perfect, infinite, and meritorious worship and adoration to the Godhead. This feat no one has the ability, and one will have the ability, and no one is able to have the ability to do on his own.

By Fr. James Farfaglia | July 29, 2013

Many of our contemporaries do not feel that they need God and therefore, they do not have a firm trust in God. Independence and self-sufficiency are the problem. Contemporary man thinks that he can do it on his own.

The Cross of Christ bears the suffering and the sin of mankind, including our own. Jesus accepts all this with open arms, bearing on his shoulders our crosses and saying to us: "Have courage! You do not carry your cross alone! I carry it with you. I have overcome death and I have come to give you hope, to give you life" (cf. Jn 3:16).Dear young people, let us entrust ourselves to Jesus, let us give ourselves over entirely to him (cf. Lumen Fidei, 16)! Only in Christ crucified and risen can we find salvation and redemption. With him, evil, suffering, and death do not have the last word, because he gives us hope and life: he has transformed the Cross from an instrument of hate, defeat and death into a sign of love, victory and life.

There is a new Legion among us in the form of transgender community, a legion of genders. This community bases itself on a false philosophy of sexuality which is gnostic and dualistic in nature, and deeply anti-marriage and anti-family.

Fr. Randy Sly: The Garden of the Heart
By Fr. Randy Sly | July 27, 2013

In the parable of the sower, we learn a lot about the desire of God to offer to everyone to truth of the gospel. We see here a sower who sows everywhere. We could also call this the parable of the soils. So much of what we see here comes from spotlighting the condition of the soil that is receiving the seed.

The election of Robert George as Chair of this international commission is good news. Hopefully, the commission will not only examine violations of religious freedom in other nations, but also violations in the United States of America. However, the woeful lack of knowledge concerning the First Amendment revealed in this recent survey is bad news. We have a lot of work to do.
