There's a new twist in a case that has shown a bright, unflattering spotlight on India's crimes against women. Two teenage girls found hanging from mango trees in Uttar Pradesh may have in fact been the victim of "honor slayings," police say.

No matter how difficult it may become, we need not be afraid. We were born into these times and we are born again for these times. In fact, the Lord is giving us all we need to be his witnesses during these times. We should not be surprised that they are treating us the way they treated him. It is one of the promises of the Bible! In a contemporary Christian culture infected by a mistaken notion that following the Lord Jesus means we will no longer have to suffer or face need, the witness of the Apostle Paul, stands in stark contrast. The Second Vatican Council in the Catholic Church began with a prayer for a New Pentecost. The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church and the source of her power for mission. We need to pray for a New Pentecost for the Church in this hour! We need more of the Holy Spirit for the New Evangelization of the Church - so that a renewed Church can engage in the missionary task of the Third Christian Millennium. We need to be Baptized afresh in the Holy Spirit, in order to take our role as a member of the Body of Christ in this new missionary age.

In March, the Catholic Benefits Association filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of 200 Catholic employers. It initially sought an injunction against forced compliance with the HHS Mandate of the Affordable Care Act while the serious issues raised in the complaint are litigated. Injunctive relief is what is called an extraordinary remedy in the law. An Injunction is an order of Court which precludes an opposing party from acting while a case is being litigated. In this instance it would compel the federal government to cease assessing any penalties and fines against the Catholic Benefits Association. In effect, it grants a temporary exemption from the draconian enforcement of the HHS Mandate while the underlying case is fully argued. The HHS Mandate requires Catholic and other Christian enterprises to provide contraception, abortion inducing drugs and sterilization - or be penalized out of existence. For such an extraordinary legal remedy like an injunction to be granted by a Federal Court requires a strong showing of irreparable damage and a likelihood of success on the merits in the underlying cause of action.

Relativism: The Societal Poison of our Age
By Deacon F. K. Bartels | June 6, 2014

At the foundation of relativism is the notion that it matters little what one believes, so long as it works for you. It's the conviction against all convictions; the claim that absolute truth is nonsense, which is itself a truth claim-albeit a false, ridiculous and poisonous one.

Kianna begins her process of learning her new 'trade' - Part Five
By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | June 2, 2014

How the makeup palette of Amala's glittered in the sun! There were beautiful colors of every shade, for the eyes, lips, face. Dozens of brushes, wide and small stood nearby for application upon Kianna's 12-year-old face. A dash of violet on the brow brought drama. Shades of pink, artfully applied to her lips made them fuller and far more alluring. What Amala - and the people at the compound would do with this, Kianna thought, had far more sinister implications than she was willing to think about.
