The Catholic Church has always proclaimed her belief in the existence of many different kinds of miracles. Our tradition and history are replete with examples of miracles. All miracles are due to the Risen Lord's continued ministry of Mercy in our midst. His redemptive work continues through the ministry of the Church which is His Body. All miracles are still signs of the Kingdom of God. Do such signs of the Kingdom continue to be manifested in our own day? I believe the answer is YES!

One of the truths of life is that what we choose determines who we become. Choosing not only has consequences outside of us, it changes us. The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses human choice in these insightful words: The more one does what is good, the freer one becomes. There is no true freedom except in the service of what is good and just. The choice to disobey and do evil is an abuse of freedom and leads to "the slavery of sin. (Cf. Rom 6:17)" (CCC#1733)

The Rainbow Sash Movement is numbered among a segment of the homosexual and lesbian community which insists that the State use its police power to enforce a legal equivalency between marriage and homosexual and lesbian partnerships. However, that is apparently not enough for the Rainbow Sash Movement. They wanted to enter into a consecrated church on Tuesday evening and commit a blasphemous and sacrilegious act. A courageous bishop stood in their way.

Much More Will Be Required: Lord, Does This Parable Apply To Us?
By Deacon Keith Fournier | October 24, 2013

Then Peter said - Lord, is this parable meant for us - or for everyone? The disciples of Jesus are accountable for living out their specific vocation in Him, every day. The words which He gives in response to Peter in this Gospel passage are meant for us. We need to listen closely to the parable, especially the sobering last line. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more. (Luke 12:48)

THURSDAY HOMILY: I Have Come to Set the Earth on Fire
By Deacon Keith Fournier | October 24, 2013

The fire Jesus promised has consequences. Sometimes it does indeed divide families. Often, only to reunite them anew in Him. The fire consumes all that would lead us away from Gods loving and perfect plan for each one of our lives. The fire purifies, refines and empowers us to become those new creations of which the Apostle Paul wrote. (2 cor.5:17) The fire changes us into the Image of Jesus Christ and shines through us into a world of darkness. The Fire draws us into communion and participation in His Divine Life and mission. That communion is lived in His Church. The Catholic Catechism, quoting St Augustine, affirms "What the soul is to the human body, the Holy Spirit is to the Body of Christ, which is the Church." (CCC # 797)

A Dance With Grief: The Hard Work of Healing
By Tara K. E. Brelinsky | October 23, 2013

Grieving can come in so many forms not just from the loss of a loved one. Couples mourn the loss of children they aren't able to conceive. A man grieves the loss of his ability to provide an income for his family. A woman weeps over the loss of her breast to cancer. A child cries over an absent father. An old woman agonizes over the loss of her memory. In this fast paced age of anti-depressants and unrealistic ideas of the ways and means to true happiness, it is no surprise that people are suffering in silence.

Rotten To The Common Core
By Dr. Frederick Liewehr | October 23, 2013

Our Bishops need to hear from their parishioners on this incredibly important subject that affects the lives of our children and the future of the Church. The secularist Left has their people installed at the highest level of our government at the moment, and is doing all it can to turn America into not just an atheist nation but a nation that is overtly anti-Christian. The government is threatening brute force to ensure compliance with its redefinition of marriage, and must be resisted. Voluntary adoption of CC curricula that are anathema to Church teaching is the last thing that the Bishops should be undertaking.

I believe that it is truly important for everyone to confront in dialogue the historical reality of the Reformation, its consequences and the responses it elicited. Catholics and Lutherans can ask forgiveness for the harm they have caused one another and for their offenses committed in the sight of God. Together we can rejoice in the longing for unity which the Lord has awakened in our hearts, and which makes us look with hope to the future. (Pope Francis to Lutheran Leaders)

Reflection on the Catholic Catechism: God Comes to Us
By Michael Terheyden | October 23, 2013

Jesus is God's final word, the end of divine Revelation. There will never be a new public revelation until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again at the end of time. Yet it remains for Christians to gradually grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries.
