Year of Faith: Bringing the Feast of the Presentation of Mary to Life
By Deacon Keith Fournier | November 21, 2013

On this Feast of the Presentation of Mary, let us make the choice to surrender ourselves to the same Lord who Joachim and Ann honored when they presented their dear daughter in the temple. Their daughter, Mary, became the Second Eve. The New Creation was born through her because it began in Jesus Christ. Her Yes is to be repeated in each one of our lives. We bring this Feast to life in our age by participating in God\'s plan for the whole human race. The Feast of the Presentation of Mary Challenges us to Present Ourselves, Our Children and the Whole World to the Lord.

THURSDAY HOMILY: Jesus Weeps and Offers the Path to Peace
By Deacon Keith Fournier | November 21, 2013

If this day you only knew what makes for peace- but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation. (Luke19:41-44)

The Kingdom of God is Among You. What Did Jesus Mean?
By Deacon Keith Fournier | November 21, 2013

In Jesus Christ, the Kingdom has been inaugurated. Upon his return it will be made complete and fully manifested in a new heaven and a new earth. We are members of the Body of Christ which makes it present here and now - as seed and sign for a world which is in labor. We are kingdom seed, held in His Blood stained Hands, being spread into the world He still loves. That world which was created through Him is now being re-created through Him. We are living seeds of the Kingdom of God in the garden of the world and we are called to bear the fruits of the Kingdom.

I must reject, as all Catholics must, any promptings or purported inclinations of my conscience that suggest I can act in "opposition to the moral law and Magisterium of the Catholic Church". None of those types of promptings could possibly originate with God. A properly formed conscience will not substitute a falsehood for the Truth - no matter how difficult or burdensome living that Truth may be.

WEDNESDAY HOMILY: Our Lady's Encouragement
By Fr Samuel Medley, SOLT | November 20, 2013

I got off the subway at Termini station and went up to the busy streets of Rome. I had to walk past the place where all the prostitutes gathered. I looked down at the street and began to pray in fear. Suddenly I heard a feminine voice say, "Be a man!" I felt strong enough to look up at a young woman in the face who was there selling herself on the corner and say with a gentle understanding smile that said, "JESUS LOVES YOU. BE NOT AFRAID."

We pray for our grandfathers, our grandmothers, who often have had a heroic role in the transmission of the faith in times of persecution. When mum and dad were not at home and also had strange idea, that the policies of that time taught, the grandmothers were the ones who passed on the faith.Today let us petition the old Saints - Simeone, Anna, Polycarp and Eleazar - so many old Saints: Let us ask for the grace to cherish, to listen to and venerate our elderly, our grandparents. (Pope Francis)

It is scandalous that so many Catholic politicians are responsible for enabling the passage of this legislation and even twisting the words of the pope to rationalize their actions despite the clear teaching of the church. All politicians now have the moral obligation to work for the repeal of this sinful and objectionable legislation. We must pray for deliverance from this evil which has penetrated our state and our church. (Bishop Thomas Paprocki)

Tuesday Homily: Conversion and Perseverance in the Life of Faith
By Fr. Roger J. Landry | November 19, 2013

As the Year of Faith draws to a conclusion, we, like Zacchaeus, are called to repent all those times that we haven't set an example of faith for others. And through the intercession of the martyrs Eleazar and Polycarp, we ask God for the grace to set such an example of fighting the good fight, finishing the race, and keeping the faith, that we will inspire many others to join us on the road of faith so that with them we might enjoy forever the joy at the end of the journey of faith with Christ the King and all his good and faithful servants.
