This Christmas, Help Suffering Christians in Syria

"The Church will not abandon them!”
--Pope Francis

Dear Friend,

It is a plea from innocent children – children who won’t be in their own homes on Christmas Day:  "Dear God, Please make the war end so that we can go home at last!"

It is a prayer from the heart that is said each day by children who hav20130307_006webe fled violent regions of war-torn Syria to the western part of the country, known as the "Valley of Christians.”  As the human tragedy in Syria continues, displaced Christian families who are living in squalid camps wonder if they will survive, let alone ever go home.

Earlier this year, Aid to the Church in Need met with Pope Francis to discuss this crisis and determine how fellow Catholics could help those in need. The Holy Father told us,  “The destiny of the Syrian people is a concern that is close to my heart.  I ask for the provision of humanitarian aid for the displaced and refugees and Syrians who have lost their homes…Tell them that the Pope accompanies them and is near to them.  The Church will not abandon them!”
