Solidarity Begins in the Womb: Jesus Was An Embryonic Person
By Deacon Keith Fournier | December 22, 2013

Just as a century ago it was the working classes which were oppressed in their fundamental rights, and the Church courageously came to their defense by proclaiming the sacrosanct rights of the worker as person, so now, when another category of persons is being oppressed in the fundamental right to life, the Church feels in duty bound to speak out with the same courage on behalf of those who have no voice. Hers is always the evangelical cry in defense of the world's poor, those who are threatened and despised and whose human rights are violated

Robertson described in the interview how sin is becoming acceptable in America and that the country needs to turn back to its Christian values. "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men," Robertson told GQ. "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right." The patriarch of the Robertson family said just putting one's faith in Jesus will help problems be solved.

As the debate continues over the A&E networks' punitive decision to suspend Phil Robertson indefinitely, because he openly professed his evangelical protestant faith in a magazine interview, I want to focus for a moment on a problem in my own Church - and among some of my fellow Catholics. I will use an example from a recent interview which Fox News mega personality Bill O'Reilly had with radio personality Laura Ingraham on Thursday, December 19, 2013.

Bishop Emmanuel Ade Badejo: Christmas,Population Control,Contraception and Life
By Most Rev Emmanuel Ade Badejo, Bishop of Oyo | December 20, 2013

Issues about population and contraception are essentially about life and so is Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of life, the life of Jesus son of God and the salvation of ours. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that all who believe in him might not perish." (John 3:16). Jesus' life is a gift from God the Father to the world. His life brought new life and ensures that God dwell among his people. "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1: 14) For the same reason, Christmas is as good a time as any to think of those who would never have the chance to live because of the tyranny of population control and contraception in Africa.

The judge's decision today is a complete contradiction to Judge Cogan's decision of just a few days ago in New York for organizations situated similarly to us and using exactly the same arguments. The New York decision recognized that the religious nonprofits were being forced to cooperate with evil. Our judge, instead, claims that we are not being forced to cooperate with evil. Our judge's decision is wrong, and we are confident of victory in our appeal. Meanwhile, injunction or not, we will absolutely not obey, cooperate with, or tolerate in any way this unjust mandate. As Scripture says, we will obey God rather than men.(Fr Frank Pavone)

Andrew Greenwell on the False Tolerance of Secular Liberalism
By Andrew M. Greenwell, Esq. | December 21, 2013

In vaunting tolerance as the public virtue par excellence, secular liberalism really re-defines tolerance from how it was traditionally understood. In fact, the tolerance advocated by secular liberalism is so counter to traditional notions of tolerance that the philosopher Don DeMarco states this substitution for one form of tolerance for another has engendered "acute tolerance confusion."
