By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | June 4, 2014

In a revelation far more grisly than the most harrowing stories of Gothic horror, the bodies of nearly 800 children have been discovered near the home for unwed mothers in Ireland this week. The children were believed buried in a septic tank between the years of 1925 and 1961.

You, Charismatic Renewal, have received a great gift from the Lord. You were born of the will of the Spirit as a current of grace in the Church and for the Church." This is your definition: a current of grace.(Pope Francis) Participants in the Charismatic Renewal are in love with the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. They not only speak of Jesus as someone who lived over two thousand years ago, they speak of Jesus as someone who is alive today - because He is! They affirm that the same charisms, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which empowered the early Church, are still available to every believer. As we approach Pentecost Sunday in our Liturgical calendar, the message of Pope Francis to the Renewal in the Spirit conference contains important insights for everyone of us.

Pope warns couples it is a mistake to put off having children
By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | June 3, 2014

In a special mass at the Vatican, Pope Francis told 15 couples that they should never substitute pets for children. The Catholic Church requires all couples seeking a sacramental marriage to agree to accept children as a gift from God. If an engaged couple informs the clergyman that they will not even consider having children, he cannot proceed with the wedding ceremony.

Kianna begins her process of learning her new 'trade' - Part Five
By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | June 2, 2014

How the makeup palette of Amala's glittered in the sun! There were beautiful colors of every shade, for the eyes, lips, face. Dozens of brushes, wide and small stood nearby for application upon Kianna's 12-year-old face. A dash of violet on the brow brought drama. Shades of pink, artfully applied to her lips made them fuller and far more alluring. What Amala - and the people at the compound would do with this, Kianna thought, had far more sinister implications than she was willing to think about.

It is urgent that all faithful Christians be fully aware of the truth concerning what the Christian Church has ALWAYS taught about the taking of innocent human life. It is critical the Christian men and women stand up against the subterfuge of errant and apostate leaders who claim to speak with the authority of the Bible - when they have actually rejected the very truth which it affirms. The unbroken teaching of the Christian Church has been - and continues to be - that every procured abortion is the taking of an innocent human life. It is an intrinsically evil act.

Maybe Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty Should Run For President
By Deacon Keith Fournier | June 4, 2014

The Patriarch of Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson, addressed the Republican Leadership conference in New Orleans, Louisiana this past weekend. His speech received several standing ovations. It also received predictable mocking from segments of the propaganda press. In characteristic style, Phil Robertson gave them plenty of the one-liners they love to use in their effete condescension masquerading as reporting. In his down home, folksy way, without all the words people like me use, Phil Robertson speaks the truth and moves people to reach down into their hearts and clear out all of the rubbish we have accumulated.

In 1993, the late Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, wrote an essay entitled Defining Deviancy Down in which he wrote these words - I proffer the thesis that, over the past generation... the amount of deviant behavior in American society has increased beyond the levels the community can afford to recognize and that, accordingly, we have been re-defining deviancy so as to exempt much conduct previously stigmatized, and also quietly raising the normal level in categories where behavior is now abnormal by any earlier standard. By defining what is deviant, we are enabled to know what is not, and hence to live by shared standard. That same year Charles Krauthammer, offered a response in a Bradley Lecture entitled Defining Deviancy Up, in which he noted - Moynihan is right. But it is only half the story. There is a complimentary social phenomenon that goes with defining deviancy down. As part of the vast social project of moral leveling, it is not enough for the deviant to be normalized. The normal must be found to be deviant.
