By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | May 7, 2014

During a homily at early morning Mass in the chapel of his residence, Pope Francis said he cried when he recently saw images of Christians allegedly killed by crucifixion. A number of news outlets reprinted photographs last month that showed what were described as crucifixions in Syria.

This errant, openly defiant, fallen Christian leader continues his fall from grace in a public manner, causing grave scandal to the faithful and disparaging Christianity in public. He needs to repent and publicly renounce his error. Then he needs to cease his arrogant crusade against the unbroken teachings of Christianity on life and marriage. He is in deep spiritual danger and needs our prayer. Even though he is officially retired, he also needs to be removed from active ministry by those in authority in his church.

Starving and destitute, Kianna meets a very special 'friend' - Part II
By Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) | May 4, 2014

Kianna made her way to the marketplace, walking unpaved, dirt roads. It would be here she would spend the day panhandling for coins in order to buy food for her brothers and ailing mother. She had taken to stealing bits of food from stalls recently, but she knew that this was wrong. If she was to be caught, angry shopkeepers would beat her as an example to all the other street urchins. Kianna reached the main part of the street, and saw lots of familiar faces - there were untold other children just like her, all vying for the same limited amount of money doled out by shoppers.

This spring, my son Joshua whom I aborted, would have been 44 years old. Hard to believe. I was 17 at the time of my abortion and at the end of my 4th month of pregnancy. Coerced and abandoned by my family, I gave in to the pressure to abort because I felt I had no other choice. It was pre Roe vs. Wade, but abortion was legal in the state of New York, in fact, my abortion occurred at a local hospital, the same place where I would later give birth to my two living sons on the same maternity ward where I participated in the death of my first son, Joshua. As Mother's Day approaches, I know there are countess women out there whose abortion connectors are going off like fireworks. It seems on Mother's Day there is no place to hide from the pain of having participated in an abortion whether you were coerced or it was what you perceive as freely chosen. The accusatory voices inside and outside of your head scream at you a little louder as the world celebrates the gift of being a mother, a gift you refused to accept.

So it is clear that the gift of understanding is closely related to faith. When the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts and enlighten our minds, it makes us grow day by day in the understanding of what the Lord has said and done. Jesus himself said to his disciples: I will send the Holy Spirit and he will make you understand all that I have taught you. Understanding the teachings of Jesus, to understand His Word, to understand the Gospel, to understand God\'s Word.
